Class Information for Winter 2018: MINDFULNESS-BASED STRESS REDUCTION CLASS (MBSR), 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm for eight weeks and a 7-hour retreat, Mondays, Jan 15, 22, and 29, Feb 5, 12, 19, 26, Mar 5 and 12 and retreat on Saturday, March 3, Beardsley Recreation Center, Agave Room
This class is an intensive class to relieve stress and improve health for people with chronic illnesses or conditions based on the teaching and research of Jon Kabat-Zinn. The MBSR program is designed to teach mindfulness skills through meditation, mindful movement exercises, inquiry and lecture presentations. Research has demonstrated that participants gain the following benefits from using the skills learned and practiced in the MBSR program: improved ability to manage chronic pain; increased sleep, clarity, focus, and sense of well-being; and lowered blood pressure, heart rate, stress levels, and anxiety. Please note, the instructor will talk with each participant before the class begins to determine if the class fits and for them and to answer any questions.
