Class Information for Winter 2018: REFLECTIONS ON 40 YEARS of Sun City West , PLANS, SCHEMES, AND FADED DREAMS”, 3-5 pm, Wednesday, March 7, Palm Ridge Recreation Center, Acacia Room (8047)
Today’s Sun City West would have been considerably different had all the plans, schemes, and dreams been realized. A city of 75,000, a major shopping mall, a resort hotel, time shares, a dinner/theater club overlooking Hillcrest, a cemetery, and more, are all part of the community’s first 40 years.
Ed Allen, who wrote the history of Sun City West for the community’s 25th anniversary, will share the story of the community’s development, along with little known schemes from the past – and what causes them to be just “faded dreams” today. Ed is a SCW resident and a trustee of the Del Webb Sun Cities Museum
