Class Information for Spring 2018: FOUR CORNERS USA: Where the Earth is the Floor of the Sky, 3-5 pm, Thursday, June 7, RH Johnson Lecture Hall; (9006)
Historian Jim Turner has written another book and this one covers a lot of ground, literally. The region many Southwesterners call Four Corners centers on the geographical “quadripoint,” the only location in the United States where the official boundaries of Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico come together. This book, and the Powerpoint presentation, describes the geology, archaeology, Native American cultures, and history of everything within a 150-mile radius of the quadripoint. Award-winning photographer Larry Lindahl. The Four Corners area is home to the Navajo, Hopi, and Pueblo people, and also includes Monument Valley, Arches, Canyonlands, Canyon de Chelly, and Chaco Canyon national parks and monuments. Director John Ford and actor John Wayne loved the Four Corners area you’ll see why in this beautiful and informative presentation.
