Decisions surrounding Social Security and Medicare have become increasingly complex. This informative class will cover the basics of both Social Security and Medicare and reveal strategies for maximizing your benefits and coverages. Other Social Security topics include, Social Security claiming strategies, how to coordinate benefits with your spouse, how to coordinate benefits with other sources of retirement income, how to minimize taxes on Social Security, and special considerations for widows and divorcees. Other Medicare topics include, enrollment periods and late-enrollment penalties, how much you can expect to pay, how Medicare works with private insurance, and why many people pay too much for private insurance and how you can avoid excess costs.
Instructor Jeff Burg is a Partner at DB Financial Partners focusing on a variety of practice areas including individual retirement planning, investment management, cash-flow planning and employer sponsored retirement plans. Jeff attended ASU and holds a Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist and a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor designation from the College for Financial Planning. Additionally, Jeff serves as an approved continuing education instructor where he teaches financial advisors, insurance agents and accountants about retirement income strategies. Jeff has over 20 years of financial services industry experience. He serves as the Chair of the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System Local Board for the City of Scottsdale, which oversees the disability and retirement plan system for the City’s first responders. The Phoenix Business Journal recently named Jeff to their 2017 class of 40 under 40 outstanding business leaders. In his free time Jeff is an active community volunteer and he and his wife enjoy traveling to new places and Scuba diving.
