Allen, Edson Ed (Edson) Allen wrote the history of Sun City West for its 25th anniversary. Ed and his wife, Loretta, have been coming to Arizona since 1975 when they first came down to visit Ed’s parents who had moved to Sun City from Wisconsin. Over the years, they came to love the desert, and when Ed retired at the end of 1996, he and his wife knew where they wanted to spend their winters! The other half of the year is split between Stillwater, MN and Door County, WI. Ed’s career was in advertising and sales promotion, and he soon became active in the Sun City West Visitors Center. In the course of his work for them, he drew on material that the Webb organization had turned over to the Sun Cities Area Historical Society. The Society was looking for someone to take on the task of writing the history of Sun City West – and he volunteered. Two years later, with the help of a committee of researchers, the history was written and the "Sun City West Silver Celebration" book was published in time for the 25th anniversary activities.
